Wrapping the mind around Sacred Pearls... using an approach of quantitative analysis.

Analysis of these artifacts has required a number of diverse disciplines to distill the truest picture possible for the reader, and our goal has been objectivity and inclusivity.  Exhaustive forensics on what is largely such a new body of objects, and these Holy objects, has required a great deal of listening, observing, and asking questions.  While some of the answers have not been easily forthcoming, our goal is simply to report our ongoing body of findings and to return lost heritage and tradition back to its heirs. We have purposed to keep in step with Hindu philosophy when dealing with these gems, which traditionally holds that scientific and rational analysis is inferior to that which is proven within.  The truth is for you to find, not for anyone to dictate.

In the mindset of collecting all available intelligence for this quantitative analysis, we have set out to qualify each information source according to its own assumptions, and delineated the pearl analysis into distinct areas.   You will find these areas of investigation within the remaining pages of each individual category of Sacred Pearl.   These are enumerated as follows:

 1.   Description of  pearl.
 2.   References to the pearl within sacred texts.
 3.   Theological alignment of a given pearl group (i.e. presiding deity)
 4.   Cosmological Inherents (i.e. gem of Heaven, Underworld)
 5.   Religious or cultural significance of given pearl variety.
 6.   Cross-references noted within Varahamihira.
 7.   Ritual handling of the artifact.
 8.   Stipulations regarding ownership.
 9.   Historical references.
10.  State of scientific analysis.
11.  Geographical origin.
12.  Scientific considerations for full overview.
13.  Archaeologist review.
14.  Hindu intelligence.
15.  Gemological opinion.
16.  Artist overview.
17.  Anecdotal reports.
18.  Personal observances.
19.  Social response of observers.
20.  Cross-cultural  references.
21.  Miscelanneous subtleties.
22.  Relative Scarcity of pearl.
23.  Known Placements.
24.  Relative Valuation Criteria.
25.  Indicated ownership benefits.
26.  Conjecture on what gives each pearl a Sacred property.
27.  Action plan for further research.
28.  Biological and Zoological review.
29.  Final determinants.
30.  Conclusions

It is our hope that the reader may not only benefit by this research, but that it may provide an intelligence network of sorts for interdisciplinary communications regarding these artifacts.  You can freely republish this site's research and photography under the GNU Free Documentation License.
